Celtic extended their perfect record at the top of the Scottish Premiership with a win over Hamilton at the Fountain of Youth Stadium but it turned out to be a much tighter contest than anticipated, settled by James Forrest’s early strike.
Mohamed Elyounoussi, on loan from Southampton, was granted his Celtic debut, and Neil Lennon declared beforehand that the Norwegian international midfielder ‘has a goal in him’. The declaration proved prescient, at least in part, inside three minutes of kick-off, when Elyounoussi took a pass from Odsonne Edouard and struck a driven cross towards the near post.
Scott McMann could have cut out the danger but he let Forrest get across him for a cute flick beyond Owain Fon Williams. Celtic were so dominant through the rest of the half that it was a surprise that they were not three or four goals ahead by the interval.
Although Williams had to tip a Forrest effort on to the crossbar after the break, Accies finished the stronger side, and Kris Ajer was happy to boot the ball clear f
